Powers Brown Architecture Marketing
Powers Brown Architecture is an award-winning professional services firm practicing architectural, interior and urban design in various market sectors, including but not limited to industrial, multi-family, government, and multi-family. The firm built a reputation for specialized design and technical superiority, producing work recognized by regional, national, and international organizations.
At Powers Brown Architecture, I partnered with Principals, project managers, design teams, and other specialized subject-matter-experts to produce targeted social media content that drove engagement on our industry-focused platform and boosted followers based in places from the Greater Houston Area to Newfoundland and Labrador by over 70 percent. Market research and strategic communications planning were vital in building a platform of transparency and passion for designing in uncharted market sectors. I designed customizable templates that integrate visual aids and copy to reflect brand style and unique company processes digestible and engageable to the architecture community.
I independently maintain the back-end of the corporate website. That includes updating news stories, research material, and project collateral that appeal to regional and national developers. As a result, potential clients have reached out for proposal applications, and thus, more project opportunities. I am also responsible for building marketing/sales proposal packages, which bring millions of dollars-worth in project revenue.
I prepared in-house presentations for industry leader conferences and proactively grew a resource pool of news-worthy content to utilize upon request, such as internal mail-out templates and strategic content calendars.

SHSU Department of Mass Communication Event Coordination
Housed in the Dan Rather Communications Building at Sam Houston State University, the mass communication department is home to award-winning student newspaper The Houstonian, a 24-hour student radio station, and a student operated community television facility. The department focuses on undergraduate education in print, broadcast and online journalism, video production, media management & sales, public relations/advertising and film production.
I launched an off-the-wall meeting with the now former Mass Communication Department Chair to hammer out a comprehensive goal, target demographic, and planning logistics for the event. I reached out to Dr. Zuroff to establish rapport and gather information to market across different media channels. An in-depth strategic communication plan reflected the mentioned specifications, detailing measurable strategies and tactics from press kits and radio script to scheduled social media posts that encouraged positive engagements.
I also copywrote several press releases pitched to local newspapers, including the Huntsville Item, and coordinated with venue owners to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Int’l Space Station Program Science Office Outreach and Science Communications Intern
The ISS Program Science Office is a department stationed at NASA Johnson Space Center to support the International Space Station and its crew. That includes coordinating events, producing press kits, partnering with several internal and external organizations, and translating new research discoveries in-low Earth orbit into high-quality media content digestable to the general public.
I partnered with subject-matter-experts to launch various print and social media content in support of the International Space Station. Taking initiative to seek out newsworthy narratives, I built from scratch NASA’s popular and ongoing social media series “Down to Earth: The Overview Effect,” a Webby Awards nominated project showcasing the psychological effects of space travel on astronauts, and copywrote content for the ISS Research and NASA Astronauts social media platforms. Posts celebrating the Apollo 11 astronauts Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin Jr., Neil Armstrong, and Michael Collins soared over 1.7 million impressions across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram over a weekend. I was also lead storyboard artist and researcher for the “One Small Step” history education video series, which brought about an increase in Instagram followers by 50 percent.
I partnered with Will Stefanov, Associate International Space Station (ISS) Program Scientist for Earth Observations, to coauthor the second edition of the official NASA Earth Observations Researcher Guide, providing updated payload information to future researchers. I also spearheaded the first-of-its-kind, comprehensive Earth Observations timeline, present on the official Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth website.
Upon request, I photographed educational outreach Destination Station events and copywrote science-oriented talking points digestible to the public, press releases, internal communication scripts, and impact statements as part of a bigger initiative to improve NASA’s researcher-oriented website application.

SHSU Department of Mass Communication Website Overhaul
Housed in the Dan Rather Communications Building at Sam Houston State University, the mass communication department is home to award-winning student newspaper The Houstonian, a 24-hour student radio station, and a student operated community television facility. The department focuses on undergraduate education in print, broadcast and online journalism, video production, media management & sales, public relations/advertising and film production.
I coordinated a complete website rebuild for the mass communication department, including the individual graduate program webpages. After the kick-off meeting with the Graduate Program Coordinator, I started work on a detailed SWOT Analysis and strategic communication plan, highlighting what works and does not work for the site technically and visually. The website drafts I designed were integrated into the in-house website software by the university’s web development team.
As a result, the university approved the new design and assimilated it into the official front-edge home, departments, and faculty pages.
